Aside from sewing my sorority letters on shirts in 2013-ish, I haven’t touched my sewing machine — until this week.
At the start of this year – I set a personal goal to deliberately carve out time each week for a new hobby. Specifically something I could do with my hands and indoors since the weather is unpredictable. The only other requirement was that it couldn’t be an electronic, because I also wanted to take a break from screens.
Shortly after setting this goal, I decided on sewing and thanks to my co-worker and friend Amber, this goal quickly became possible!
First step, I had to decide what exactly I wanted to sew first. Then I had to collect materials–
Once I had materials — again thanks to Amber — I was ready to start measuring & cutting, then ultimately stitching.
Fast forward a few days, and a few re-stitches later… I can now say, I made my first tote bag! It’s even reversible!
I seriously cannot express how proud I am of myself for this final product! The patterns were specifically chosen for my mom and I can’t wait to send it to her!
