If you’ve been working out regularly but are getting bored, it’s okay to shift up your exercise routine to keep things fresh. Even changing one day, could make a difference, and help you keep the momentum going.
Regardless if your routine includes only cardio or has a mixture, there is always something you can do to switch things up. Here are a few ideas to get you going:
- Group classes- Many local gym’s have group classes you can sign up for, you may even get lucky and find outdoor group classes that allow you to omit the traditional gym membership. Either way, group classes help you change up your workout, without having to think since you have an instructor to follow. Before you know it, you’ll have a full workout in, and didn’t even realize the time had passed by.
- Online challenges- Maybe an online trend has caught your attention, or you’ve seen virtual walking challenges that would add some excitement to your routine. My suggestion, it’s worth a try! At the very least, it’ll give you something fresh to do, giving you a short break from your tried and tested routine.
- Organized Routines- Maybe group classes, where everyone is facing the same direction aren’t your thing? That’s okay. But have you ever considered a group “class” where you have an instructor going around giving quick examples, keeping an eye on your form, and watching the clock? Fitness classes such as CrossFit or Orange Theory, may be worth your time. Many times, you can buy individual class passes, without signing up for a gym.
- Change of Scenery- You might be lucky enough that a change of scenery is all you need. Your routine may be perfected, but switching from your home space, a gym, and outdoors will make all the difference in keeping your workouts exciting. Just listen to yourself, and see what the does.
- Accountability Buddy- These are individuals who may not have the same exact goal as you, but they are moving in the same direction, and have the same overall goal as you. Such as weight loss, movement goals, or daily gym sessions. Accountability partners help keep you motivated, and give you that extra push to keep going, not skip a day, and help keep you on track.
No matter your fitness goals, it’s normal to get bored of a routine, you just have to get creative and do what you need to do to keep moving!
