I’m Not Indecisive, I’m Just Building My Happiness

For a long time, I thought decisiveness meant having a clear answer, a set plan, and a linear path forward. Choose once. Commit fully. Don’t look back.

But somewhere along the way, I realized that version of decisiveness didn’t leave much room for curiosity, growth, or happiness.

These days, I keep my options open — not because I don’t know what I want, but because I know myself well enough to understand that what fulfills me isn’t linear. I don’t need my life to follow a straight line to feel successful. I need it to stay interesting, aligned, and sustainable.

What some people call indecision is often just discernment. It’s the willingness to pause, to explore, and to let things unfold without forcing an outcome too early. I’ve learned that closing doors too quickly, just for the sake of certainty, often leads to choices that look good on paper but feel heavy in real life.

Keeping options open gives me space to breathe. It allows projects to evolve naturally, ideas to grow, and opportunities to reveal themselves over time. I don’t need everything mapped out to trust that I’m moving in the right direction.

I used to rush decisions because I thought clarity had to come first. Now I understand that clarity often comes through action, curiosity, and lived experience — not before it. Sometimes the most aligned choice is allowing yourself to try, adjust, and pivot without guilt.

Building happiness, for me, means choosing flexibility over rigidity and curiosity over control. It means honoring the fact that I’m allowed to want different things at different stages of life. Growth doesn’t always move forward in a straight line — sometimes it loops, expands, and surprises you.

So no, I’m not indecisive. I’m intentional. I’m giving myself permission to keep things open, stay curious, and build a life that feels meaningful — not just predictable.

And honestly? That feels like happiness.
