New Year, New Adventures: Setting Travel Goals for 2024

With a new year, comes new goals, but more specifically for today, travel goals!

You can bet that I already have a list of places I would really like to visit before we leave Germany this summer, but I am also slowly starting to fill in plans for when we get back to the states.

Before 2023 even ended, I already booked a trip for early 2024 to a place I’ve already been in Italy, and had no intention of visiting again. However, when the opportunity arises, and the experience & company is intriguing enough, It’s worth a second visit.

Only problem is that the first trip I planned, wasn’t for within the next 30 days, and I am running out of time here, so I jumped on SkyScanner.com and looked up flights to everywhere in the month of January, and found a €37 round trip ticket to Spain!

Now this flow of planned trips if much more reasonable for me to A) budget for and B) still feel like I always have something to look forward to over the next couple of weeks!

To Figure out what works best for you take a moment and–

  1. Make a list of all the places you’d like to visit, you may also opt to include specific experiences you’d like to do while at each place if you know already.
  2. Determine how much of your annual income is a comfortable amount to budget for your adventures. This is helpful because you can then decide if you would prefer to do one large, pricier trip, or a bunch of smaller trips, or a mix of medium and smaller trips (my favorite).
  3. Look at the Calendar and pick good times for you to travel, are you wanting to go somewhere monthly, or a mainly during the summer/winter holiday months. There is no wrong answer, but PTO, school calendar and seasons may play a role.
  4. Take into account events throughout the year, maybe someone is getting married or it’s a loved ones 100th birthday. Both are special moments you might not want to miss.
  5. Lastly, pick what kind of trip(s) you would like to take. Adventurous, Relaxing, Cruise? You don’t want to burn out from a trip, so think about what kind of trip your body and soul needs.

The absolute most important thing though is to be flexible, have fun and be HAPPY!
